Grilling How-To: Bacon Pork Kebabs

Leave your friends in awe for a whole new grilling experience with these one of a kind kebabs! With the help of these simple tips and the state of the art Big Green Egg ceramic griller, you are bound to whip yourself up some good kebabs that will impress not only others but even yourself!

Set up the grill for indirect grilling. Prepare 2 lbs of sirloin porkchops, thick cut bacon, zucchini, garlic, a big sweet onion, pork rub, red pepper flakes, lemon, olive oil, shredded cheese, half a pound of mushrooms and wood skewers.

First to cook are those sinful bacon strips. Take some of your bacon and place them on your grill.

Make your marinade. Add a quarter cup of olive oil, red pepper flakes, some lemon juice and a few crushed cloves of garlic. Mix all the ingredients together and set it aside.

Take your zucchinis. You could also use other veggies like bell peppers. Chop them up into wedges. Chop the onion into wedges as well. Lastly, pull off the stems of the mushrooms.

Now take your sirloin and cut it up into one-inch cubes. Using sirloin chops aren't necessary though. You can find your own favorite chop. This is just my personal favorite.

On your pork, drizzle on some salt, pepper and granulated garlic then brush on the marinade all over. Let it bask in the flavorful goodness for a good 20 minutes or so.

After about 20 minutes, go back to your bacon and take them out to cut in half. Now, what you need to do is put all of these together through the wooden skewers. What you do is take a strip of bacon, wrap it around the slice of pork and pierce it through the wooden skewer. Follow this with the vegetables of your choice then repeat this pattern until your skewer is nearly full.

Pop the skewers in the griller and put the lid back on to let it set. When you're halfway through, say about 30 minutes after, check your grill once again and flip them around to evenly distribute the heat then add a little bit more marinade.

Check your kebabs every now and then until the bacon has become crisp. This is your indicator that your kebabs are ready for eating. Serve them on a hot plate and sprinkle on some shredded cheese of your choice on top.

You are now ready for some outdoor munching with this sumptuous pork dish!
